Both Hasbro and IDW Publishing have partnered on a new limited series, Transformers / Back to the Future, from creators Cavan Scott and Juan Samu, which will also introduce a new action figure in Gigawatt.

The miniseries picks up with Marty McFly having returned from an epic, once-in-a-lifetime adventure. He now finds himself in a better version of Hill Valley, but he and Dr. Emmett Brown now find themselves pinned against the Decepticons, which have a plot in place to alter time as we know it! The two have a companion, however, as their time-traveling DeLorean doubles up as the Autobot, Gigawatt!

“When I was asked to write the official crossover comic, I could only shout ‘Great Scott’ and dive in,” Scott proclaimed. “It’s the perfect fit. Both Transformers and Back to the Future are packed with adventure, humor and, most importantly, heart. Plus, it gave me a chance to play with multiple Transformers timelines, harkening back to some of my favorite storylines of the ‘80s, while also bringing in elements of all three Back to the Future movies. Look out for classic characters, both human and Cybertronian, and a few surprises along the way!”

Transformers / Back to the Future #1 (of 4) is currently slated to debut in October of 2020.

The character of Gigawatt, a Transformers collaborative special edition to commemorate the Back to the Future 35th anniversary, will be available as a Walmart exclusive, but is limited to only 1,985 pieces with the collective seal on the packaging. They are currently offered as a preorder or can possibly be scooped up in select stores as well. Another wave of unnumbered versions, sans the seal, of the figure will follow in October.
