Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips Remain Busy, Unveil Third Book in RECKLESS

Creators Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips have a big year in store at Image Comics, following the smash success of their Pulp book, the forthcoming release of Cruel Summer and now, just in time for the holiday season, the upcoming, Reckless.

The series centers on Ethan Reckless, who makes your troubles his business, but for the right price. When a fugitive from his days as a student radical seeks his help, he will have to decide to face his only fear … His past.

“Reckless comes from my love of pulp heroes and private eyes,” said Brubaker. “I wanted to bring that feeling over to comics, with a series of graphic novels that each tell a complete story, a thriller or mystery … and also, for as long as Sean and I have been working together, we’ve almost never focused on a hero. So Reckless is a big left turn for us, but it’s still our version of a ‘hero’—so sometimes more of an anti-hero, probably.”

Cruel Summer drops on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2020, while Pulp is available now. The 144-page Reckless goes on sale in comic shops on Wednesday, Dec. 16, followed by a bookstore release on Tuesday, Dec. 22.
