An upcoming adaptation of an original graphic novel, The Great Machine, has selected its lead in Oscar Isaac, per an announcement from Legendary Entertainment.

The film will be based on the comic book series from Brian K. Vaughan and Tony Harris, Ex Machina, a Vertigo/Wildstorm offering, both DC Comics imprints, about Mitchell Hundred, a former superhero-turned mayor of New York City, post-9/11. He possesses the power to converse with mechanical devices, while the series, as a whole, spotlights issues in both politics and government.

Isaac, having already starred in a film called Ex Machina, in 2004, alongside Alicia Vikander, is what prompted the name-change for the upcoming film.

Isaac completed his Skywalker Saga run in 2019 as Poe Dameron in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. He’s set to star this year in the reboot of Dune and Big Gold Brick and is currently filming The Card Counter.
