Filmmaker James Mangold has found his Bob Dylan in Timothée Chalamet for an upcoming biopic on the iconic singer/songwriter, which is tentatively titled, Going Electric.

The film will highlight a pivotal shift in Dylan’s career when he opted for an amp and electric guitar, instead of his trademark acoustic guitar, which caused a shift among his fans. Heralded as an acoustic prophet at the ripe age of 19-years-old, he exploded in the 1960s, but in 1965, when he plugged in his guitar at the Newport Folk Festival, the reaction was amazing, as his longtime fans were divided. There were even attempts in trying to unplug his guitar from the amp, which highlighted the profound discord between traditional folk and the growing phenomenon of rock ‘n’ roll.

Chalamet has two HUGE projects coming in 2020 with, Dune and The French Dispatch. He turned in a fantastic 2019 with such films as, Little Women and The King as well. The rising actor is currently taking guitar lessons to better familiarize himself with instruments.

Mangold, known for directing and producing both The Wolverine and Logan, is still riding the wildly successful run of Ford v Ferrari. He is currently set to helm Juliet and Crenshaw, both in 2020.

No news yet on when production begins, but stay tuned to Galaxtic Pop for updates!
