In continuing the theme of churning out live-action adaptations of its famous animated films, Walt Disney Studios has selected both Carlos López Estrada, to direct, and Kari Granlund to write, Robin Hood.

The remake will serve as a nod to the 1973 animated film, Robin Hood, which is a comedic and musical take on the famous tale. The characters were all animals. The titular character of Hood was a fox, Little John, a bear, Friar Tuck, a badger, Prince John, a lion, Nottingham’s sheriff, a wolf and, Maid Marian, a vixen.

Estrada helmed episodes of Legion and is best-known for Blindspotting. He also kicked off 2020 with the release of Summertime. Granlund was also responsible for writing last year’s Lady and the Tramp live-action adaptation.
