The ‘Universal Monsters’ Continues with Ryan Gosling to Serve as WOLFMAN

Following the success of The Invisible Man, Universal is advancing its ‘Universal Monsters’ initiative and has now secured Ryan Gosling to portray the iconic Wolfman.

The film will be a reboot of both the original The Wolfman, from 1941, and its initial reboot of 2010’s The Wolfman, in which a man returns to his homeland, after years away and is attacked by a creature of folklore, which infects him with a disease that transforms him into a werewolf when nights when there’s a full moon.

The initial plan for the studio was to introduce a universe in which the six of its most-iconic monsters, Dracula, Wolfman, Frankenstein, The Mummy, The Creature from the Black Lagoon and Phantom of the Opera, were eventually going to have an interconnected Avengers-type squad film, but plans were initially scrapped after the underwhelming response to 2014’s Dracula Untold, as well as the reboot of The Mummy in 2017. However, it seems that plans are still on to at least revive solo films for each monster.

Fans will have to wait and see whether the universes of the monsters collide, but it has also been reported that Elizabeth Banks has been enlisted as The Invisible Woman, which could suggest that the Bride of Frankenstein may be on the way as well. Also, James Wan has been selected to produce a yet-revealed uni monster film too.
