Filmmaker Josh Cooley has been tabbed by Universal Pictures to write and direct an all-ages live-action hybrid adaptation of its Universal Monsters franchise, Little Monsters.

That’s right, Dracula, Frankenstein‘s monster, the Wolfman, Mummy, Phantom of the Opera and Creature From the Black Lagoon, among others, are getting a seemingly ‘cute’ makeover. Much is being kept under wraps regarding the plot, but the project will no doubt feature the misadventures of the group, with a multi-generational and age-appropriate spin on the monsters-of-old.

Both Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman will serve as producers, while the characters, themselves, will be based on concept designs by Crash McCreery, who will also executive produce.

Cooley, known for having written and directed Toy Story 4, is also currently writing a still-untitled animated Transformers project as well.
