Filmmaker Olivia Wilde may possibly be stepping into the Spider-Verse with her next directorial gig as Sony has enlisted her services for an upcoming, but still-untitled Marvel project, which is rumored to center on a female character.

As you can see in the below tweet from Wilde, which further added more flame to the fire, it will no doubt take place in the Spider-Verse, but don’t be quick to nominate Spider-Woman (Jessica Drew). This could very well be anything from Spider-Gwen/Ghost-Spider (Gwen Stacy) to Silk (Cindy Moon).

The Sony Spider-Verse seems to be spinning a massive storyline and the possibilities are endless. There is already a Madame Web film coming as well, via director S.J. Clarkson, and it is only a matter of time before the aforementioned ladies of the web make their respective way to the screen as well. We could very well be the start of a massive crossover event.

Wilde made her feature directorial debut with the 2019 indie breakout, Booksmart. She is currently filming on Don’t Worry, Darling, which she is also directing, and is also lending her voice to the Audible series, Escape From Virtual Island, as the character, Bianca.
