The animated series, The Boondocks, which last aired in 2014 on [Adult Swim], is bound for WarnerMedia‘s streaming service, HBO Max, shortly after its launch.

That’s right, Aaron McGruder‘s largely-popular animated series, based on his comic strip, follows Huey and Riley, both voiced by Regina King, who move away from the city and out to the suburbs with their grandfather, Robert ‘Granddad’ Freeman (John Witherspoon), as the trio take on sociopolitical issues and rival, Uncle Ruckus (Gary Anthony Williams).

The order from Warner Media and HBO will include the complete 55-episode catalogue, which the entity will exclusively control, while McGruder will return as showrunner as well.

The new series will include 24-total episodes and is set ti premiere with a special 50-minute episode, on HBO Max, in fall of 2020.
