Comedy Central Announces New Seasons (and Spinoffs) of BEAVIS AND BUTT-HEAD

After almost a nine-year hiatus, Beavis and Butt-Head is returning to television, this time on Comedy Central, with Mike Judge at the steering wheel, two new seasons and a few select spinoffs in tow as well.

That’s right, Judge will return to serve as the primary writer and producer, while once again voicing the titular couch potato tandem.

The rebirth of the two friends will see them enter Generation Z and include meta-themes that will be relatable to both traditional and new fans, alike.

Beavis and Butt-Head became a cultural phenomenon in the 90s, having lasted eight years, over 208 episodes, from 1993-2011, and even saw the two take the big screen in Beavis and Butt-Head Do America, in 1996, which grossed just shy of $64 million, domestically. The two get caught up in numerous misadventures while dissecting popular music videos, previously on MTV.

Judge has built quite the Beavis and Butt-Head universe in launching Daria, from 1997-2001, and King of the Hill (1997-2010). Comedy Central is also home to the forthcoming Daria spinoff, Jodie, as well.

There is certainly an uptick in adult animated series and films, considering the long-running success of shows like, The Simpsons and Family Guy, but also fairly new breakouts like, Rick and Morty, Big Mouth, Crossing Swords and anything after midnight on [adult swim].
