Rick Remender Announces New Series and Laundry List of Artists in, THE SCUMBAG

June 22, 2020 Off By Michael Stagno

An all-new series from Rick Remender, at Image Comics, will tell the story of the world’s fate in resting with the ‘worst person’ on the job, while recruiting some of the top artists in the game, in the forthcoming, The Scumbug.

The series centers on Ernie Ray Clementine, who is the last hope for humanity’s survival. He is, according to Remender, ‘a profane, illiterate, drug-addicted biker, with a fifth-grade education’. An accident pumps Clementine with a serum which grants him superpowers. He is still a horrible person, but he’s also the world’s best super-spy for an organization which has to bribe him into baiting to do the job.

Art for the first issue is provided by the team of Lewis Larosa and Moreno Dinisio, on colors, while Remender has also assembled a variable crew of top artistic teams for the subsequent issues, including Tula Lotay, Simone di Meo, Marguerite Sauvage, Yanick Paquette and Mike McKone, just to name a few.

“It is very hard to get an artist to commit to one book for a long run. It’s a lot of investment, harder still, is getting a really great artist to sign on for a long run. So, I had the idea to lure in a bunch of my favorite artists to each do a single issue,” said Remender. “The great experiment is underway and going really well. This new ongoing series will feature a murderers’ row of all-star artistic talent rotating each issue.”

The Scumbag #1 is currently slated to debut in October of 2020.
