Sony Pictures Claims Film Rights to AfterShock Comics Series, THE KAIJU SCORE

A forthcoming series at AfterShock Comics, The Kaiju Score, has yet to debut, but has already had its movie rights purchased by Sony Pictures, in conjunction with the independent film company, Escape Artists.

Kaiju Score, from creators James Patrick and Rem Broo, which was announced in April, follows a career criminal looking to execute the perfect crime of the century, all while be it during an attack from a monstrous kaiju on the city.

Tony Shaw is credited with having garnered the rights to the project for Sony, while he will also produce, alongside Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch, for Escape Artists. Serving as producers on the AfterShock side will be Lee and Jon Kramer, while Jiao Chen will oversee operations for the studio.

“The truth is, that the whole thing has been wonderful and surreal, but I’ve also found myself kind of having not digested it because it happened so fast. I’ve tried to not be excited about it and just focus on my work, but I’ve failed at that,” said Patrick. “I’m excited. Period. Excited because it will hopefully bring more eyes to the book since it won’t come out until November, excited for people to read the book and see how much more it is than just a good hook and excited if it brings more attention to my other work and to Rem Broo’s wonderful art and his other books.”

Kaiju Score #1 is currently slated to go on sale on Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2020. Stay tuned for more information regarding the potential Sony film!
