Image Comics Series FARMHAND Optioned for TV at AMC

Continuing the theme of post-apocalyptic-society TV, AMC will once again adapt an Image Comics series, this time in best-selling book, Farmhand.

The dark comedy series, created by Rob Guillory, who both writes and draws the book, tells the story of Jedidiah Jenkins, a farmer. He doesn’t churn out produce, however, but rather, human body parts. His garden can produce anything you need, from a finger to a new liver, but something deep down is starting to bloom and may spell bad news for not just the farm, but the world, as this agriculture has gone apocalyptic.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled to bring Farmhand to AMC,” said Guillory. “I knew if I was ever going to adapt Farmhand, I’d need partners whose bold vision preserved and complemented my own, and I’ve found that with LaToya Morgan and the fine folks at AMC. Their enthusiasm for this project has been absolutely infectious, and I think together we’re going to make a show that is very unique and very special.”

Morgan (The Walking Dead) will serve as executive producer, while Guillory will pen the script for the pilot episode. No news yet on a cast or when production begins, but stay tuned!

The series is a little over a year old, but you can collect trades, Farmhand, Vol 1. now and, in September, Farmhand, Vol 2.
