March 13, 2020 Off By Michael Stagno

The live-action adaptation of Arkansas has garnered its first trailer and finds two drug traffickers, both aspiring for more, pinned against a drug lord whose funds are starting to come up short.

The film marks the directorial debut for Clark Duke, who also stars alongside Liam Hemsworth, Vince Vaughn, John Malkovich and Vivica A. Fox. It centers on Kyle (Hemsworth) and Swin (Duke), who both work for a drug kingpin named, Frog (Vaughn), whom the duo have never met. Posing as junior park rangers by day, they operate as low-level drug couriers by night, as observed by Frog’s proxies, Bright (Malkovich) and Her (Fox).

The film is based on the best-selling novel, Arkansas, by John Brandon. It weaves together three decades of drug trafficking in the Deep South and explores the cycles of violence that turns young men into criminals and old men into legends.

The rest of the core cast includes: Michael Kenneth Williams, Eden Brolin and Chandler Duke.

Arkansas is currently slated to release in select theaters, but will also launch across both Apple and Amazon streaming platforms, on May 1, 2020.
